Guasare

The cocoa variety native to the Guajira region & Sierra de Perija of Rio, Guasare , was recently rediscovered. The cocoa comes from a small plantation near the river Guasare in the state of Zulia.

This variety from the southern region of Lake Maracaibo comes from the first cocoa that existed on earth, the cocoa Guasare.

It belongs to the exotic cocoa and is considered an ancient pure criollo with white to light-colored seeds.

The cocoa comes from the Andean regions of Venezuela, the beans inside of the fruit are very large and white.

Guasare is a high quality criollo variety. In general, it can be said that it is one of the best cocoa of the Venezuelan coast, with pure, raw cocoa bean aromas.

Aromatic profile

With Guasare you experience a very nutty aroma with notes of caramel and malt, and a round and full-bodied aroma with high intensity. The taste is very expressive, there are many pleasant and complex notes, subtle undertones of dried and ripened fruits, tobacco, coffee, light red fruits and pure cocoa.
